A Data Breach Can Cost Your Company Upwards of $840,000

Friday, March 01, 2013
If your business or organization has been affected by a data breach it will have a direct effect on more than just your confidential materials. Solving the issue will take an extended period of time and money.

InfoSecurity Magazine cited a Post Breach Boom report polling more than 3,500 security professionals to gauge the impact a malicious breach had on their organization. The report found that organizations affected by intentional breaches spent an average of $840,000 to resolve the issue and increase security measures.

The report also indicated that it took an average of 80 days for organizations to detect a breach and another four months to resolve the issue. Internal IT security systems weren't able to detect every breach. One-third of breaches were discovered by a third-party security provider.
